Emergency Appointments

Emergency appointments are allocated only in the case of genuine emergencies, requiring applicants to travel in the near future. If you simply require an earlier appointment than your originally scheduled one, we suggest, before requesting an emergency appointment, you contact the Visa Information Service about scheduling a priority appointment.  This can only be done by phone: http://germany.usembassy.gov/visa/infoservice/

In order to request an emergency appointment, you must first schedule a regular appointment. We will need this appointment information in order to schedule an emergency appointment.

Before requesting an emergency appointment, check the appointment availability at all three visa issuing posts in Germany (Berlin, Munich, Frankfurt).  Emergency appointments are only scheduled if no appointments are available at any of the posts.

Only request an emergency appointment if you are in possession of all necessary documents!

Emergency appointment are scheduled for the next available appointment at one of the three visa-issuing posts in Germany (Berlin, Frankfurt, Munich). The appointment may not necessarily be at the post desired. It is not possible to choose the location or time of the appointment.

Emergency appointments may only be granted for serious emergencies.
Emergencies include:

  • Life or Death Emergency
  • Business Facilitation
  • Student and Exchange Visitor Facilitation
  • German Airport Turnaround, including "Kinderreissepass" boarding denial.
