No More Paper Form I-94 - New Arrival/Departure-Record Process for Foreign Visitors (April 29, 2013)
Over the next few months, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) will phase out the paper I-94 Arrival/Departure form for most non-immigrant travelers.  CBP will instead gather travelers’ arrival/departure information automatically from electronic travel records. Travelers will not need to do anything differently upon exiting the U.S.  Travelers previously issued a paper Form I-94 should surrender it to the commercial carrier or to CBP upon departure.  Travelers who need the information from their admission record to verify immigration status or employment authorization will be able to get it online at
http://www.CBP.gov/I94.

Au Pair Visa Scams! (April 12, 2013)
Legitimate Au Pair stays can ONLY be organized through the 13 Au Pair organizations authorized by the U.S. Department of State (Designated Sponsors List) and their German partner organizations.   Anything else is likely a scam.
We have recently learned of visa scams being perpetrated against applicants interested in working as Au Pairs in the United States. Participants organize their Au Pair program through online sites. Having been ”matched” with a family, they are then told to pay a “processing fee” of several thousand Euros through Western Union and mail their passports to an agency for visa issuance and flight tickets.

Please be advised that:
- Au Pair in the U.S. can only be organized through U.S. Department of
State authorized Au Pair Organization
- Applicants will never have to pay “processing fees” to the Embassy through Western Union
- Visa must be applied for in person
- United States visa law prohibits anyone admitted into the United States as a visitor on a B-1/B-2 visa, or visa free under the Visa Waiver Program, from working as an au-pair, nanny or mother's helper even if only in exchange for room and board.

Whereas the registration should be made at 72 hours before travel at the latest, applications may be submitted at any time before travel. July 25, 2012: Appointment Time versus Interview Time
Your appointment time does not mean that you will be interviewed at this time; this is just the latest time you should arrive at the Consulate/Embassy for admittance.
Please do not come to the Consulate/Embassy more than 30 minutes at most before your appointment time.  If you come earlier, you will be asked to leave again. Depending on the season, there may be many other applicants scheduled for the same time slot so it is possible that you will have to wait for a short time in a queue outside before being admitted to the building.  Don’t worry if you won’t reach the entrance by your appointment time because of the queue – you will not lose your interview slot.
