Berlin Students discuss Impressions of America

The most recent group of participants in Mission Germany's "Windows on America" initiative met with a packed room of fellow high school students and journalists to discuss their exchange program in America. Ambassador William Timken welcomed the students back to Berlin, thanking the sponsors of this public-private partnership initiative, and expressed his hope that the opportunities and experiences the teens had gained through the program would motivate them through college and into their professional lives. The students spoke very enthusiastically about their impressions of American society and culture, and answered questions from their peers on topics ranging from high school life and religious freedom to food in America. This was the second group to travel through Mission Germany’s "Windows on America" program. The 30 students who attended the press conference were greatly impressed by the first-hand accounts of their peers, who began nearly every answer by saying "it isn’t like you see on TV."
