September 29, 2005.

In his first public speech, Ambassador Timken stressed the importance of putting the German-American partnership to work as a force for peace, prosperity and democracy. Asking for the support of government at all levels and public, private and individual partners, he said his main goal, as President Bush’s "man on the ground" was to build on and improve "the bilateral relationship between our two great nations." The program was co-hosted by the Embassy, the American Academy and Aspen Institute Berlin. It took place in the Leibnizsaal of the Berlin-Brandenburgische Akademie der Wissenschaften.
