William Robert Timken, Jr., of Ohio, was sworn in as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to the Federal Republic of Germany.

Ambassador-designate Timken was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on July 29, 2005 and nominated by President Bush on July 19, 2005.

William Robert Timken, Jr., of Ohio, was confirmed as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to the Federal Republic of Germany by the U.S. Senate.

July 19, 2005.
The President intends to nominate William Robert Timken, Jr., of Ohio, to be Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to the Federal Republic of Germany.

PERSONNEL ANNOUNCEMENT

President George W. Bush today announced his intention to nominate one individual to serve in his Administration:

The President intends to nominate William Robert Timken, Jr., of Ohio, to be Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to the Federal Republic of Germany. Mr. Timken currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of The Timken Company. He has served as Chairman since 1975 and retired as a company executive at the end of 2003. Mr. Timken began his career with the company in 1962. He received his bachelor's degree from Stanford University and his master's degree from Harvard University.
