U.S. Embassy Teacher Academy 2006 – The American South
October 27 – 30, 2006

The annual U.S. Embassy Teacher Academy provides up-to-date information on American society and values. The conference atmosphere is one of intense exchange with American specialists in interdisciplinary aspects of politics, economics, and American studies. Lectures and discussions will be in English. This year’s topic will take a fresh look at the American South in a historical, cultural, and political context. See program

Target Group

The Teacher Academy addresses secondary school teachers from all German states, in particular multipliers in the field of English and the Social Sciences, “Fachberater” and “Fachleiter”, secondary school curriculum planners, representatives of ministries of education, textbook writers, and educators. It also welcomes junior teachers (“Referendare”) who can apply directly or be nominated by their advisors.

Accreditation

The U.S. Embassy Teacher Academy 2005 has been officially recognized as teacher training by: Hessisches Kultusministerium, Veranstaltungsnr. 032105801

Costs

The U.S. Embassy covers all program and partial room and board expenses. Registered participants will be expected to cover travel expenses and a conference fee of EUR 50.

How to Get There

By car:
Take A9 (Nürnberg-Berlin), exit at Coswig. From there take B187 to Wittenberg. B187 becomes "Hallesche Straße." Turn left on "Elbstraße". Then right on "Wallstraße". Look for a building called "Kreismusikschule". The Leucorea is on the left. Parking is available in the courtyard.

By train:
Wittenberg is on the Munich-Berlin railroad line. The train station is about half a mile from the Leucorea.

Registration

Unfortunately, there are more applicants than space available. Applicants will be notified by mid-September. Please do not make any travel arrangements before you hear from us. Preference will be given to applicants who intend to stay throughout the entire seminar. You may register until August 31. Fill out the registration form and return it:
