Dr. Ute Bechdolf

Dr. Ute Bechdolf is Head of the German-American Institute Tübingen (Deutsch-Amerikanisches Institut Tübingen d.a.i.). Her interests are varied and range from media, gender and women’s studies, dance, popular music, youth culture to film. Dr. Bechdolf’s research areas include Media in Every-day Life, Gender Studies, Dance as a Cultural Practice, and German-American Cultural Exchange. Dr Bechdolf is the author of Wunschbilder? Frauen im nationalsozialistischen Unterhaltungsfilm (Tübingen, 1992), Puzzling Gender: Re-und Dekonstruktionen von Geschlechterverhältnissen im und Musikfernsehen (Weinheim 1999) and also editor of the work Projektgruppe Tanzen: Tanzlust. Empirische Untersuchungen zu Formen alltäglichen Tanzvergnügens(Tübingen 1998). Together with a group of university students, she is currently working on a research project about Americanization/Globalization in Tübingen.
