new embassy building
Remarks by Ronald Norby, Hensel Phelps International
On behalf of Hensel Phelps International and all of our subcontractors and construction craftspeople, I would like to express our excitement and pride at being a part of the creation of this important project for the United States Government in this great city of Berlin, Germany.
The "topping out" of a structure marks a critical and valuable milestone in the construction process. Prior to this event, many years of planning, land acquisition, designing, funding, permitting and procuring have occurred through the dedicated work of many people both in the United States and the host country, Germany. It is of particular pleasure, for all of the construction personnel, that we are involved in this project at this prominent location within this great City of Berlin. Every day, when we come to work, we bring with us a sense of pride for what we are doing at this historical location.
I would like to express our deep appreciation to our partners, our subcontractors and suppliers, both from the United States and Germany, for providing the excellent quality of construction to arrive at this critical milestone. We could not be more pleased by the care and professionalism we have experienced in assembling this great structure. The German contractors working on this project can be very proud that the quality of the construction is some of the very best in the world.
Most important to the construction process, especially on this project, is the industrious attitude and focused attention of all the construction craftspeople who work here day after day. The men and women who toil here, applying their skills, are some of the best crafts in the world. They have come here each and every day through all types of conditions and weather to give their talents to building this beautiful structure. Without them, this event could not take place, and for that I thank them all for their diligence and dedication to their trade.
We have only a little more than a year to go to complete this building and transform it into a place of great significance for our two governments. We look forward to the day, not that far in the future, when we will celebrate the end of construction and the beginning of vital international business and friendship within this majestic building.
Thank you for allowing us to be a part of this.
