Memorial Service in Honor of the Victims of September 11, 2001

A memorial service in honor of the victims of September 11, 2001, for invited guests was held at the American Church in Berlin. At the joint invitation of U.S. Ambassador William R. Timken, Jr. and Mrs. Timken and the American Church in Berlin approximately 300 political, business, cultural and diplomatic representatives as well as family members of German victims honored the victims of the September 11 attacks five years ago at an ecumenical memorial service.
The program of the memorial service included readings and prayers by clergy representing the Protestant, Catholic, Jewish and Muslim faiths and remarks by Ambassador Timken as well as a moment of silence at 2:46 p.m., when the first plane struck the North Tower of the World Trade Center five years ago.
