Effectively immediately, Greek passports issued before 01 January 2006 are no longer considered valid for travel, with the exception of Greek diplomatic and official passports.

Holders of both the Greek E-passport and older versions of the passport issued on or after January 1, 2006 may continue to travel to the United States on these documents. These documents have a maximum validity of five years. All versions of Greek official and diplomatic passports are valid for admission until the date of expiration, regardless of the date of issuance.

Greek citizens may travel into the U.S. with a valid visa in their old (or now invalidated) passport along with a new passport issued on or after January 1, 2006.
