Mrs. Sue Timken, along with her daughter Fran, visited the photo exhibit "Dense but Deep" at the gallery of ifa/Institute for Foreign Relations in Stuttgart. Both were very impressed by the photos by Arab photographers from Lebanon, Egypt and Palestine, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Algeria, and Morocco, and tried to gain better insights into their world by studying their work. The images by "outside" photographers - including two Americans and several Europeans - was of special interest as it helped to challenge the traditional Western view of the Arab world.
Mrs. Timken and her daughter listened carefully to the explanations of ifa's art director Ms. Lenz. They already made plans to take friends and colleagues to the exhibit when it is featured in Berlin in February through May.
Mrs. Timken and Fran also visited the "Discovery of the Landscape" exhibit - paintings by 16th and 17th century Dutch masters at Stuttgart state gallery. Since art knows no political border, this collection is an important exhibition of the collective European cultural and artistic heritage that the United States also inherited.
