ART FORUM BERLIN, the international trade fair for contemporary art, showcases the works of established artists and newcomers with 120 galleries from 25 countries, including many galleries from the United States. This year's special exhibition project, entitled "BIG CITY LAB" - also featuring 8 American artists - focuses on the big city as a laboratory and deals with the metropolitan myth as both positive and negative visions of modernity. The city is a place of freedom and progress, where new forms and structures emerge. It is also a place where traditional values are broken down or transformed — only to make room for something new. more on American artists and galleries at the Art Forum Berlin 2006 (pdf) | more on the Art Forum Berlin
