Chargé d'Affaires Cloud Inaugurates "America@yourlibrary" Partnership Initiative in Cottbus
June 20, 2005.
Chargé d'Affaires John Cloud inaugurated a new Germany-wide library partnership initiative at the Cottbus Regional Public Library. John Cloud met with Class 11/1 from Humboldt-Gymnasium in Cottbus before the opening ceremony, and then later with journalists from 20 Cents, a Cottbus newspaper for young people. Later in the afternoon, an America@yourlibrary information workshop on exchange opportunities took place. Interested students (and their parents) had the opportunity to find out about study and internship programs.
The America@yourlibrary initiative will provide financial support, books and other information material to selected libraries in order to respond to local information needs on the United States, especially the needs and interests of young people. In addition, the U.S. Mission to Germany will work in partnership with libraries to develop workshops, readings and other cultural programs about the United States.
