May 11-13 2009. The Literaturhaus Rostock and the U.S. Consulate General Hamburg sponsored several readings by Holly-Jane Rahlens, an American writer who lives in Berlin. She read at the City Libraries in Schwerin and Wismar, the Literaturhaus in Rostock and the Regional Library in Neubrandenburg. Holly-Jane Rahlens, winner of the German Youth Literature Prize, engaged some 230 young students and read from her latest novel "Memoirs of an Ex-Cheerleader", set in New York in the early sixties. With her stories, Rahlens educated the students in an entertaining and playful way about the United States and the American way of life.
