- No expedited service is offered outside of the United States.
We accept the following forms of payment
For Passports by Mail:
Credit Cards: Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover - Credit Card payment form (pdf);
• No EC Cards are accepted.
International Money Orders: American Express or U.S. Postal Service money orders made payable to “U.S. Department of State”;
Cashier’s Check / Bankschecks:
- Cashier’s check issued by an American bank in dollars; OR
- Cashier’s check (“Bankscheck”) issued by a German bank in U.S. Dollars, drawn on an American Bank, made payable to American Consulate General Frankfurt;
- All checks must be made payable to the appropriate American Consulate General or to the U.S. Embassy Berlin (depending on where you are sending your passport application);
- All checks must be machine-readable (i.e., have a coded line running along the bottom of the check).
No personal checks will be accepted.
Please do not send cash through the mail.
For In-Person Services (Passports, Reports of Birth, Notarials):
Cash: Either dollars or euros.
