    • Note: Adults who already have a fully valid passport book may apply for the card as a passport renewal

Reports of Birth Abroad

  • U.S. $65.00 (payments also accepted in EURO)

Expedited Service

  • No expedited service is offered outside of the United States.

Forms of Payment for

Passport in Person

Cash: either U.S. Dollars or Euros

Cashier’s check: drawn on an American bank in dollars OR a cashier’s check written in dollars issued by a German bank, drawn on an American bank ("Bankscheck" is the German word). Please note that we cannot accept checks written in euros. Note: All checks must be machine-readable (i.e., have a coded line running along the bottom of the check).

Credit cards: Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Diners, and NOVUS/Discover

International Money Orders: American Express or U.S. Postal Service money orders payable to the appropriate consular office (e.g. American Embassy, Berlin; American Consulate General, Frankfurt; etc.).

Passport by Mail

Please do not send cash through the mail.

Money Orders: American Express or U.S. Postal Service money orders payable to the appropriate consular office (e.g. U.S. Embassy, Berlin; Consulate General, Frankfurt; etc.). American Express money orders are sold by many large German travel agencies.

Credit Cards: Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Diners, and NOVUS/Discover
When paying by credit card, please include credit card issuer (Mastercard, etc.), date of expiration, card number, and the name of the individual to whom it was issued. Credit Card payment form (pdf).

Cashier's Checks: Cashier's checks drawn on an American bank or cashier's checks issued by a German bank, drawn on an American bank (Bankscheck is the German word for this.) will be accepted. They must be made payable to the appropriate American Consulate General or to the U.S. Embassy Berlin (depending on where you are sending your passport application).  Note: All checks must be machine-readable (i.e., have a coded line running along the bottom of the check).

PERSONAL CHECKS ARE NOT ACCEPTED.

Reports of birth abroad

Cash: either Dollars or Euros.

Credit Card: Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, or Diners Club

International Money Orders: to the exact dollar amount made payable to the “United States Disbursing Officer.”

Cashier’s Check: drawn in dollars on a bank in the United States made payable to the “United States Disbursing Officer.”  Note: All checks must be machine-readable (i.e., have a coded line running along the bottom of the check).
